Our best consumer advice for UVM students utilizing Burlington International Airport is as follows.
Whether on your flight in, while deboarding, or in baggage claim, do some networking and find 2 or 3 others headed to your area of campus. It's a KISS* operation really. At least once the rationale is understand.
If students group up in 3's and 4's specific to a particular area of campus, e.g., Redstone, the Shoe Boxes, East Campus, L & L, housing on the Hill, etc. It should be possible to keep your cost down to about 5-$7 each. This is based on the idea, that if 3 or 4 exit the taxi at the same location, it eliminates the need for the Operator to charge for making multiple stops in different areas of campus. Which in turn allows the Operator to get to his next fare/opportunity more quickly rather than eating up time, and thus postponing their next opportunity. Which, if you don't know, is the name of the game in the taxi business: chasing the next fare(mind you, it's commission job), and therefore more opportunities equate to more income(that's the perception anyhow).
Hope that helps.
