12 Nov., 2009: Unless the state of New York comes up with funds for the Fort Ticonderoga Ferry -accessed in Whiting, Vermont- the ferry is said to be closing this Sunday the 15th of Nov. Which means! in order to access the Amtrak Adirondack, you will need to obtain a ticket specific to the Essex, New York stop, which can only be reached via the Charlotte Ferry. Our understanding is, ferry walk-on passengers ride free. Our rate will be $55 for one, $60 for two to split, $66 for 3 to split, etc. Let us know if we can help, we'll try to keep you up to date.
A Sad Announcement:
the 2nd Rate Revolution is Unsustainable
In explanation: it came to our attention this morning (23 Oct., 2009) that the College has arranged for motor coaches(something we intended to incorporate in our model) to campus following Thanksgiving Break(29 Nov. 2009). WITH MUCH REGRET!! we must announce that the $40 transfer rate, should you meet the provisos, and then end up riding alone -outside of the 2 major breaks- therefore became an unsustainable business model.
Our model also included serving absolutely everyone, no matter what, not just cherry picking during major breaks; anybody can organize shuttles when the entire campus is on the move, the trick is to provide near shuttle rates between breaks.

Sadly, our experiment cannot succeed without significant post Thanksgiving & Winter Break shuttle revenue, which subsidization is essential to support such a severe discount between breaks. As a result, this revolutionary business model must be terminated, effective immediately.
* Those already on the schedule will of course be honored and organizing maximum shared service remains our mission. Suffice it, we are deeply disappointed!!
That said, our old Anchor Discount Program is again Operational.

Which will get you a maximum of a $70 transfer, with: 8 days notice(2 weeks is no longer necessary), a willingness to move a bit in order to share and cash payment should a match not develop.

Jessica's continues to go to great lengths; up to and including -as needed- follow up telephone contact, in order to facilitate maximum shared transportation between BTV and anywhere on Campus. You needn't drag your bags to and from Adirondack Circle -unless that's the best location for you- as it has always been our practice to collect/deliver MiddKids as near as possible to their dorm!
Budgetary Tip: Those traveling Via Amtrak should consider utilizing The Vermonter because the Essex Jct Amtrak Station is the only Amtrak Station that is compatible with adding on to the Airport Shuttles. Which tends to account for the bulk of those departing campus via organizations such as ourselves. The same is true of the Greyhound Bus Station in Burlington, Vermont.
Thankfully, we have never caused a student to miss their flight; although more than a few have overslept. Wake Up Calls $5!
Please keep in mind, when shuttling, your punctuality is as important than ours!
One final critical detail, do examine our Cancellation Policy. Especially specific to Shuttling. Then please use it to your advantage, because that's why we went to the lengths we have to spell it out for the world to see.

Winter Break '02
Reaching back into the ancient times of late last century, Jessica's was the first organization to provide effective widespread shuttles involving Burlington Int'l Airport -thereby fomenting the $20 Shuttle Revolution- including serving the Middkids using Greyhound and the various Amtrak's (Rutland, Port Henry, NY & Essex Jct). We're no longer numero uno but we're proud to have changed the marketplace in a positive direction for MiddKids. Ahh, for the simpler days when we simply walked the campus postering dormitory bulletin boards.
By the way, anyone can avail themselves of Jessica's services, shuttles or private service: including Parents, and other Middlebury residents or visitors. Sharing is good on all sorts of levels, not just reducing carbon emissions. Recently, a pair became a couple after meeting while shuttling with us. You just never know. (It didn't involve a Middlebury Shuttle, we provide shared service for as sorts of groups and organizations).
