Several times a year, Vermont(& New York) Colleges are a natural fit for Shared Service Shuttles, since most of the student body is arriving or departing during the same time frame. The remainder of the year takes a bit more effort by everyone involved but we have some suggestions and offer incentives, if you'll allow Jessica's the opportunity to facilitate mutually beneficial Shared Service Shuttling.
We can't emphasize enough -you needn't be a student- that these programs are for anyone who may benefit from participation.
Why Share?
To save money is the usual reason. But, other priorities might include resource conservation or leaving a lighter imprint on the planet! And, who knows whose acquaintance you'll make.
Shared Service Suggestions
- It all begins with a reservation, which is when we begin working for you; think of Jessica's as your personal Transportation Concierge. If you don't commit to booking a reservation, how are we suppose to assure anyone they'll be riding with you?!
- Make your reservation as far in advance as possible. Immediately following confirmation of your airline reservation. Make Jessica's your next communication while all the information is readily at hand. There's nothing to lose. Shuttlers will incur no penalty if they cancel with 48 hours notice. Which allows us a minimum of 12 days to work in your behalf. The particulars of our Cancellation Policy are spelled out on our Policy Page.
- Spread the word by telling your visiting friends, fellow students, parents, and others who could benefit.
- Inn Keeper's ... could your establishment benefit from having its own dedicated Transportation Concierge?
- We're pleased to include those destined for, or arriving from, the Burlington area Amtrak or Greyhound Bus, Stations.
Incentives
Chief among our discounts is
Jessica's Vital Transit Anchor Discount Program
This discount is designed to encourage sharing for people like yourself, who plan ahead. It's especially beneficial during low traffic non-break periods, e.g., when it's time to head out for pre-graduation interviews or a gal pal is coming to town.
Essentially, it amounts to a minimum of a $10 discount for those that guarantee their reservation more than 2 weeks in advance. The whole point being to have one or more on our schedule so we can respond to other Shared Services query's favorably. Then make a phone call, or six, thereby assisting near misses in sharing. Of course, when a match or matches occur your discount may approach half, followed by additional incremental decreases in individual cost with additional matches.
Provisos
- Reservation must be booked and guaranteed more than 14 days in advance. E.g., contact Jessica's immediately following confirmation of your airline reservations.
- Client must be willing to share.
- Client must be willing to leave up to one hour prior to their optimum departure time in order to help facilitate a shared transportation to the airport.
- Client must be willing to wait a maximum of 60 minutes after collection of luggage in order to help facilitate shared transportation to the campus.
- Changes of schedule due to matters out of our control 'may' involve a change in payment. The fact is flight delays and cancellations rearrange schedules favorably, as well as unfavorably. Which is all the more reason to avail oneself of this Anchor Discount option, as you may find yourself arriving with no matching arrivals in sight(or possibly, not until the following day).
- Does not apply to the Greater Burlington Area/Chittenden County transportations, as there is another applicable discount below.
FAIR NOTICE: This is a CASH ONLY program, precisely because it is a significant discount designed to benefit those who plan ahead and may yet end up traveling alone. Once a shared transportation is facilitated, normal rates and payment acceptance will prevail.
CYA Alert: Any other Provisos listed within this site may apply.
DIY Shared Service Discount
Rather than our doing all the work, organize your own student group(5-8) -e.g., to the airport- and earn you and your friends a substantial discount.
Provisos
- one phone call
- one collection point
- one destination
- one Visa/MasterCard guaranteeing the entire group(you collect for the group)
- minimum 14 days notice
Call for a quote(no, your initial query doesn't count as your one phone call:) and you'll be astonished by how much Jessica's Do It Yourself discount will benefit your budget.
Purely recreational, touring or excursion groups would do well to contact us for a quote as well.
Greater Burlington/Chittenden Cty Area Discount
If you fly -in or out- of BTV, you know the On-Demand Taxi's queued at Burlington Int'l must use meters. We, at Jessica's, believe the mandated rate miles 3-10 ($2.60 per) is too high and detrimental to the local impression of that portion of the transportation industry. That being the case -when we happen to be on the airport taxi queue- we offer a discount to those that request a Jessica's Vital Transit affiliated operator.
Provisos
- Request -Insist if need be*- a Jessica's Vital Transit affiliated operator.
- As a matter of courtesy, please inform the operator in the first spot, your intention is to satisfy your Customer Preference.
- If an Airport "Traffic Control" Ambassador happens to be available to assist you, please do them the courtesy too of mentioning your preference, and the Ambassador will likely locate one of our number for you.
* The Taxi Queue at Burlington International Airport is a Customer Preference Zone. You may request whichever service you like(assuming they are present on the queue, otherwise call) or simply walk up to an Operator you have received desirable service from previously: you're paying, so choose for yourself, don't accept inferior service!
Final Thoughts
- Should you find yourself harassed, misled, pressured or otherwise treated rudely -by anyone affiliated with Burlington International Airport- please do inform the Airport Administration or Operations: 802/863.2874. The simple fact is, the local traveling public is the first line of defense in improving the service level of any public, or private, organization working in conjunction with a public institution, such as the Queue Permitted Burlington Airport Taxi Operators. This is true, because you actually use and pay for that convenience. Plus, Complain for Vermont as those on the front side of Burlington International Airport are often our visitors first impression of Vermont.
